ครั้นกาลล่วงไป เขาไปถึงกกุภะ อันอยู่ในความคุ้มครองของผู้เป็นศัตรูแห่งชัมภะ (พระอินทร์) แล้วจึงไปยังอาศรมของฤๅษีชามทัคนี ที่ซึ่งแม้สิงห์กับช้างก็อยู่ร่วมกันโดยไร้เวรภัย
