brāhmaṇyaṃ naṣṭamabhavadvetālastvāṃ tato'grahīt | tenāviṣṭastvamāyāto vivaśo'tra vimūḍhadhīḥ
Dattātreya
Tirtha: Setukṣetra (implied)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis/śrotṛs (frame implied)
Scene: Dattātreya explains that Durācāra’s brahminical purity was destroyed and a vetāla seized him; Durācāra appears shaken, as if emerging from a spell, while the sage remains steady and compassionate.
Moral collapse can lead to spiritual vulnerability; delusion follows when dharma is abandoned.
Setukṣetra is the narrative locale; the next verses highlight Dhanuṣkoṭi as the place of release.
Not in this verse; it explains the condition (possession) that will be cured through tīrtha-snānā.
