असमानप्रवरैर्विवाह इति गौतमः । यद्येकं प्रवरं भिन्नं मातृगोत्रवरस्य च । तत्रोद्वाहो न कर्तव्यः सा कन्या भगिनी भवेत्

asamānapravarairvivāha iti gautamaḥ | yadyekaṃ pravaraṃ bhinnaṃ mātṛgotravarasya ca | tatrodvāho na kartavyaḥ sā kanyā bhaginī bhavet

โคตมะประกาศว่า: การอภิเษกพึงกระทำกับผู้มีประวรต่างกัน หากแม้ประวรเพียงหนึ่งเดียวไปซ้อนกับประวรแห่งโคตรฝ่ายมารดา ก็ไม่พึงทำพิธีวิวาห์ ณ ที่นั้น; กุมารีนั้นพึงนับเป็นดุจน้องสาว
