व्यास उवाच । एकदा शृणु राजेंद्र यज्जातं दैत्यसंगरे । तत्सर्वं कथयाम्याशु यथावृत्तं हि तत्पुरा
vyāsa uvāca | ekadā śṛṇu rājeṃdra yajjātaṃ daityasaṃgare | tatsarvaṃ kathayāmyāśu yathāvṛttaṃ hi tatpurā
พระวยาสกล่าวว่า: ฟังเถิด โอ้ราชาเหนือราชาทั้งหลาย เรื่องที่ครั้งหนึ่งเกิดขึ้นในศึกกับเหล่าไทตยะ ข้าพเจ้าจะเล่าให้ครบถ้วนโดยเร็ว ตามที่ได้เกิดขึ้นจริงในกาลก่อน
