ในแคว้นอวันตีมีพราหมณ์ผู้หนึ่งนามว่า มันทรา เขาหลงระเริงในกามคุณ ถูกสตรีครอบงำ และมุ่งสะสมทรัพย์สินไว้เป็นกอง
