Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Dvīpeśvara
Type: kshetra
Scene: A grand donation ceremony: large quantities of gaḍukas offered; recipients bless the donor; symbolic imagery of illness departing (dark figure fading) and prosperity arriving (overflowing granary/coins) under Śiva’s auspicious gaze.
Sustained generosity is portrayed as transformative—purifying karma and supporting well-being and prosperity.
The results are taught within the Revā-kṣetra Māhātmya tradition of the Āvantya Khaṇḍa.
A graded scale of dāna quantities is linked to outcomes: purification of lifelong sin, relief from disease, and increase of wealth.
