นางเป็นที่เลื่องชื่อว่า “มันโททรี” บำเพ็ญตบะเพื่อเหตุแห่งการได้คู่ครอง และนางบูชาด้วยภักติ โดยยึดพระผู้เป็นที่รักของอุมา—พระศิวะผู้เป็นมงคล—เป็นเจ้าบ่าวที่ตนปรารถนา
