Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Śiva-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Scene: A restrained pilgrim, calm-faced, having bathed at a riverbank Śiva-tīrtha, offers bilva leaves and water to a liṅga-shrine; subtle aura suggests Agniṣṭoma-like sanctity without a fire-altar.
Pilgrimage merit is amplified by inner discipline; conquering anger and the senses makes worship at a tīrtha equivalent to great Vedic sacrifices.
Śiva-tīrtha in the Revā-khaṇḍa.
Snāna (ritual bath) at Śiva-tīrtha and pūjā (worship) of Mahādeva, performed with self-control.
