tyaja saumyamidaṃ rūpaṃ sitacandrāṃśunirmalam | rudraṃ rūpaṃ samāsthāya saṃharasva carācaram
Mahādeva (Śiva)
Scene: Devī’s transformation: the gentle moonlike radiance recedes; she assumes a Rudra-like fierce aspect—flaming aura, dynamic posture—while Śiva remains the commanding still center. The cosmos shows signs of dissolution: waves, winds, collapsing constellations.
The Divine can be both gentle and fierce; the fierce form serves dharma by restoring cosmic balance through dissolution.
Revā-kṣetra context frames the narration; no individual tīrtha is singled out in this verse.
No explicit rite; it supports the Purāṇic understanding of multiple divine forms (rūpa-bheda) in worship.
