tyaktvā rājyaṃ suraiḥ sārddhaṃ gataśrīko jagāma ha | tapaścacāra vipulaṃ gautamena mahītale

ครั้นละทิ้งราชสมบัติ—สิริรุ่งเรืองก็เสื่อมสิ้น—เขาจากไปพร้อมเหล่าเทวะ และได้บำเพ็ญตบะอันยิ่งใหญ่บนแผ่นดิน โดยอาศัยพระฤๅษีโคตมะเพื่อขอความพ้นทุกข์
