पादे मूर्ध्नि हृदि चैव मूर्ध्नि हृत्पाद एव च । हृत्पादमूर्ध्नि संप्रोक्ष्य मंत्रस्नानं विदुर्बुधाः

pāde mūrdhni hṛdi caiva mūrdhni hṛtpāda eva ca | hṛtpādamūrdhni saṃprokṣya maṃtrasnānaṃ vidurbudhāḥ

เมื่อพรมน้ำชำระที่เท้า ศีรษะ และดวงใจ แล้วพรมน้ำอีกครั้งที่ศีรษะ ดวงใจ และเท้า—เป็นการทำให้ดวงใจ เท้า และศีรษะศักดิ์สิทธิ์ตามลำดับ—บัณฑิตทั้งหลายเรียกพิธีนี้ว่า “มนตระสนาน” คือการชำระภายในด้วยมนต์ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ในการบูชาพระศิวะ
