Suta Goswami (narrating the Vayu Samhita teaching to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Continuation of the transcendence teaching: Śiva is not bound by mind (manas), citta, senses, tanmātras, or bhūtas—i.e., not conditioned by the psycho-physical apparatus or elemental cosmos.
Significance: Reorients worship: the deity of the liṅga is not a finite mind-bound being; contemplation of His nirupādhika (attribute-free) freedom supports detachment and devotion.
Role: teaching
It declares Shiva as Pati—the ever-free Lord—who is never bound by pasha (bondage) arising from mind, senses, or the elemental tattvas; bondage belongs to the pashu (individual soul), not to Shiva.
The Linga is worshipped as the accessible Saguna symbol of the same transcendental Shiva described here—beyond mind and elements—so devotion to the Linga matures into inner recognition of Shiva’s untouched, supreme nature.
Meditate with the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while withdrawing attention from mind and senses, contemplating Shiva as free from all tattvic limitations; Tripundra and Rudraksha may be worn as supports for steadiness in this contemplation.
