Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadashiva
Sthala Purana: No single sthala is specified; the focus is on śāstroktavidhi—scripturally enjoined Śaiva method—for relinquishing prāṇa as a liberation-oriented act.
Significance: Highlights the purāṇic claim that adherence to Śaiva śāstra-vidhi (right method/intent) is decisive for immediate release, implying pilgrimage is secondary to correct Śaiva ordinance.
Role: liberating
It asserts the decisive power of Śiva-śāstra’s prescribed yogic/ritual discipline: when the practitioner relinquishes prāṇa in the sanctioned manner—centered on Śiva as Pati (Lord)—liberation is immediate, emphasizing Śiva’s grace and scriptural authority.
In Shaiva practice, the ‘method taught in Śiva’s scripture’ is typically grounded in devotion and alignment to Śiva’s presence (often through Liṅga-upāsanā, mantra, and dhyāna). The verse frames liberation as the fruit of correctly oriented, Śiva-centered sādhanā rather than mere philosophical debate.
It points to a Śaiva-śāstra based end-of-life discipline—mantra-japa and yogic prāṇa-samyama (regulated release of prāṇa) undertaken with Śiva as the sole refuge; in practice this is supported by Śaiva observances like japa, dhyāna, and purity disciplines taught in the tradition.
