Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Significance: Connects creation (sṛṣṭi-vivṛddhi) to Śiva’s will mediated through Śivā/Śakti; for pilgrims, it sacralizes the brow-space (bhru-madhya) as a locus of divine emergence and creative command.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: Cosmogonic activation: Brahmā petitions Śiva for jagat-sṛṣṭi and vivṛddhi; śakti differentiates and emanation occurs from the brow-space.
It presents creation as proceeding through Śiva’s will and Śivā’s manifest power (Śakti), showing that cosmic origination and growth occur when the transcendent Lord is invoked and the divine energy becomes expressible in form.
It supports Saguna worship by indicating that, though Śiva is supreme, the universe becomes knowable through manifestation—Śiva with Śakti—so Linga worship reveres the formless Lord as present and operative within creation.
A practical takeaway is invocation (abhyarthanā) of Śiva through mantra-japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with contemplation of the Śiva-Śakti unity as the source of all creative power.
