Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya teaching to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Annapūrṇā
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that devotion to Pati (Śiva) is expressed through orderly, sattvic offerings—discipline, purity, and intention—by which the bound soul (paśu) loosens pasha (bondage) through worship.
These items are standard havis (sacred offerings) used while worshipping Saguna Śiva through the Liṅga, where tangible substances support concentration and reverence, leading the mind toward Śiva’s higher, formless reality.
A Śaiva homa/puja sequence: offer ghee first, then measured food and grains (lājā, mustard, barley, sesame) while maintaining mantra-focused attention—commonly alongside Śiva mantra japa such as the Pañcākṣarī.
