Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Emphasizes internalization of worship (antaryāga): after external offerings, the devotee withdraws the invoked presence and contemplates Śiva in the Self, aligning pilgrimage with inner realization.
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It teaches the Shaiva discipline of completing worship with humility (kṣamāpanā—seeking pardon for inevitable ritual lapses) and then turning from external rite to inner absorption, contemplating Śiva as the indwelling Lord (Pati) within the self.
It reflects the standard arc of Saguna upāsanā: invoke and honor Śiva through offerings and mudrās, then perform udvāsana/visarjana (ritual conclusion). The final instruction—meditate on Him within—shows how Linga worship culminates in interior realization rather than ending at the altar.
Offer arghya and puṣpāñjali, perform the prescribed mudrā, ask Śiva’s forgiveness (kṣamāpanā), ritually conclude the worship (udvāsana), and then sit for inward dhyāna—remembering Śiva in the heart, ideally supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
