शिवसंस्कार-दीक्षानिरूपणम् (Śivasaṃskāra and the Typology of Dīkṣā)
न तु तत्त्वं त्यजेज्जातु नोपेक्षेत कथंचन । यत्रानंदः प्रबोधो वा नाल्पमप्युपलभ्यते
na tu tattvaṃ tyajejjātu nopekṣeta kathaṃcana | yatrānaṃdaḥ prabodho vā nālpamapyupalabhyate
Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya teaching to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Warns against neglecting tattva-sādhana during phases of dryness (when bliss/awakening is absent); emphasizes perseverance through tirodhāna (concealment) until grace dawns.
Cosmic Event: Tirodhāna (concealment) implied as the experiential ‘dryness’ where bliss/awakening is not perceived.
It teaches unwavering adherence to Śiva-tattva (the supreme reality). If a path or inner state yields no ānanda (bliss) and no prabodha (awakening), it indicates disconnection from the liberating truth; therefore the seeker must not abandon or ignore the true principle that leads to Śiva-realization.
In Shaiva Siddhanta, saguna worship—especially Linga-upāsanā—anchors the mind in Śiva-tattva. The verse implies that neglecting the core reality behind worship results in dryness (no bliss, no awakening), while steady devotion to Śiva (through Linga, mantra, and disciplined living) matures into inner illumination.
Maintain steadiness in Śiva-tattva through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and consistent Linga-pūjā; if the mind becomes dull and joyless, renew practice with purity (bhasma/tripuṇḍra, rudrākṣa, and focused dhyāna) rather than abandoning the path.
