The Supreme Lord as the Uncaused Cause
yo 'gre māṃ vidadhe putraṃ jñānaṃ ca prahiṇoti me | tatprasādānmayālabdhaṃ prājāpatyamidaṃ padam
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Cosmic Event: Cosmogonic beginning: appointment of Brahmā as Prajāpati through Īśvara’s grace and transmission of jñāna.
The verse emphasizes that even Brahmā’s cosmic role arises through the Lord’s anugraha (grace) and bestowed jñāna—pointing to Śiva as Pati, the supreme source of knowledge and authority.
By portraying Śiva as the giver of jñāna and cosmic rank, it supports Saguna worship (such as Linga-upāsanā) as a direct approach to the personal Lord whose grace empowers and liberates beings.
The practical takeaway is jñāna-oriented devotion: worship of Śiva (commonly through the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with humility, seeking divine grace as the true source of spiritual attainment.
