Gṛhapati’s Vow: Turning Grief into Mṛtyuñjaya–Mahākāla Sādhana (गृहपतेः प्रतिज्ञा—मृत्युंजय-महाकालजपः)
नन्दीश्वर उवाच । पित्रोरनुज्ञाम्प्राप्येति प्रणम्य चरणौ तयोः । प्रादक्षिण्यमुपावृत्य बह्वाश्वास्य विनिर्ययौ
nandīśvara uvāca | pitroranujñāmprāpyeti praṇamya caraṇau tayoḥ | prādakṣiṇyamupāvṛtya bahvāśvāsya viniryayau
นันทีศวรกล่าวว่า—เมื่อได้รับอนุญาตจากบิดามารดาแล้ว เขากราบแทบเท้าทั้งสอง. จากนั้นเวียนประทักษิณด้วยความเคารพ กล่าวถ้อยคำปลอบประโลมมากมาย แล้วทั้งสองก็ออกเดินทาง

The verse highlights dharmic humility—seeking consent, bowing at elders’ feet, and offering reassurance—showing that Shaiva devotion (bhakti) is grounded in reverence, self-restraint, and compassionate speech.
Pradakshina (circumambulation) and pranama are core gestures used in Linga worship; here they are applied to parents, teaching that honoring rightful authorities and living dharma supports pure Saguna Shiva-bhakti and prepares the mind for worship.
Adopt pranama and pradakshina as daily disciplines—bowing with remembrance of Shiva and circling sacred beings/places with devotion—while cultivating a calm, reassuring speech that reduces agitation (pāśa) and steadies the mind for japa such as “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
