Bāṇa’s Renewed Engagement in Battle
jaghānaikena garuḍaṃ kṛṣṇamekena pattriṇā | balamekena ca mune parānapi tathā balī
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Bhairava
It highlights the limitation of even the greatest celestial powers when confronted with the cosmic will that operates under Śiva’s lordship—teaching humility and the Shaiva Siddhanta view that all finite strength is dependent on Pati (the Supreme Lord).
The verse underscores Saguna manifestations of divine authority in the Purana’s narrative: worship of the Liṅga trains the devotee to recognize the One Lord behind all forms and powers, including those of celebrated deities and their vehicles.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and cultivate vairāgya (detachment), remembering that worldly or even celestial power is not the refuge—Śiva is.
