Bāṇāsura’s Wrathful Command and the Onset of Battle at the Inner Palace
Suta Goswami (narrator, relating the battle episode in Rudrasaṃhitā)

The verse highlights how adharma collapses inwardly: when confronted by steadfast, fear-free dharmic power, the asura-mind (ego and aggression) loses certainty and becomes doubtful—an early sign of its defeat.
In Shaiva understanding, fearlessness and unwavering resolve arise from reliance on Saguna Shiva’s grace (often symbolized by Linga-worship). The demon’s confusion contrasts with the devotee’s steadiness that comes from taking refuge in Shiva as Pati (the Lord).
Cultivate abhaya (fearlessness) through japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” combined with steady devotion; this inner firmness is the antidote to the doubt and agitation shown by the asura.
