दांभिमुक्ताच्छराञ्शंभुश्शरांस्तत्प्रहितान्स च । सहस्रशश्शरैरुग्रैश्चिच्छेद शतशस्तदा

It portrays Śiva as the supreme protector who effortlessly neutralizes hostile forces—symbolically, the Lord dissolves the devotee’s inner “arrows” such as pride, aggression, and delusion, restoring dharma and inner clarity.
Though the scene is martial, it highlights Saguna Śiva’s compassionate sovereignty: the same Lord worshiped as the Liṅga manifests powerfully in līlā to restrain adharma, assuring devotees that the formless Absolute also acts as a personal guardian.
A practical takeaway is protective japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa, contemplating that Śiva cuts down negative impulses before they mature into harmful actions.
