शिवतत्त्ववर्णनम् (Śiva-tattva-varṇana) — “Description/Exposition of the Principle of Śiva”
पाद्मे भविष्यति सुतः कल्पे तव पितामहः । तदा द्रक्ष्यसि मां चैव सोऽपि द्रक्ष्यति पद्मजः
pādme bhaviṣyati sutaḥ kalpe tava pitāmahaḥ | tadā drakṣyasi māṃ caiva so'pi drakṣyati padmajaḥ
Lord Shiva (Īśvara) speaking within the Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa creation narrative
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Cosmic Event: kalpa-cycle (Padma-kalpa) and reversal of generational roles
It highlights Shiva as the timeless Lord (Pati) who stands beyond kalpas, while created beings like Brahma arise in cycles; divine vision (darśana) happens by Shiva’s grace and at the appointed cosmic time.
The verse points to Shiva being directly ‘seen’ (darśana) by Brahma and others—an idea mirrored in Saguna worship where the devotee approaches Shiva through a manifest support such as the Linga to receive grace and revelation.
Cultivate readiness for Shiva’s grace through steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and daily Linga-upāsanā; the core takeaway is inner purification so that darśana becomes possible when grace descends.
