“โอ้เจ้าแห่งมุนี จงดูเถิด—ตำแหน่งทิศบาลนี้เป็นเช่นไร! ที่นี่และบัดนี้กลับมีผู้ประพฤติดุจมนุษย์สามัญเป็นผู้เสวยอยู่.”
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Rudrasaṃhitā account to the sages, quoting the immediate speaker in the story)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Sthala Purana: A marvel is voiced: a ‘mere human’ is seen enjoying the rank of a dikpāla. The subtext is karmic promotion through Śiva’s prasāda, which can appear disproportionate to ordinary expectations.
Significance: Reinforces faith in Śiva’s capacity to elevate the devotee beyond worldly status—up to cosmic offices—thereby motivating temple service and śravaṇa of Śiva-kathā.
It highlights the impermanence of worldly and even celestial offices: positions like Dikpāla are “enjoyed” through karma and merit, but without Shiva-realization (Pati-jñāna) they remain temporary and cannot grant final liberation.
By contrasting external rank with inner qualification, it points the seeker toward Saguna Shiva worship (Linga-upāsanā) as the stabilizing refuge beyond changing posts—devotion to Shiva purifies the limited “human condition” and leads toward grace.
Cultivate detachment and steadiness through daily Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Linga worship; offer actions and ambitions to Shiva so that status does not become bondage (pāśa).
