Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Establishes daily sādhana: brāhma-muhūrta smaraṇa of Sāmbaka Śiva as a purifier of mala and an opener of grace; ideal prelude to temple worship or home liṅga-pūjā.
Type: panchakshara
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: nurturing
It teaches the daily Shaiva discipline of beginning the day in brāhma-muhūrta with smaraṇa (remembrance) and bhakti-filled prayer, cultivating humility and steady orientation to Pati (Śiva) as the liberating Lord.
By emphasizing remembrance and prayer to “Sāmbaka Śiva” (Śiva with Śakti), it supports Saguna upāsanā—approaching the Lord with form and qualities—often expressed in practice through Liṅga worship, mantra-japa, and reverent salutations.
Wake before sunrise (brāhma-muhūrta), sit or stand with añjali (joined palms), bow the head, and perform Śiva-smaraṇa with a short prayer—commonly accompanied by pañcākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") as part of morning sādhanā.
