दक्षयज्ञे सत्या अपमानबोधः — Satī Encounters Disrespect at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
यस्य स्मरणमात्रेण सर्वं पूतं भवत्यहो । विना तेन कृतं सर्वमपवित्रं भविष्यति
yasya smaraṇamātreṇa sarvaṃ pūtaṃ bhavatyaho | vinā tena kṛtaṃ sarvamapavitraṃ bhaviṣyati
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Establishes smaraṇa (remembrance) of Śiva as intrinsically purificatory; frames all acts as spiritually sterile when performed in forgetfulness of Pati.
It teaches that Śiva, the supreme Pati, is the purifier of all; even a simple act of smaraṇa (remembrance) aligns the mind with Him and sanctifies life, while actions done without God-consciousness remain spiritually tainted by ego and bondage.
In Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā—the devotee anchors remembrance through form, mantra, and offering. The verse implies that the sanctity of ritual is not merely external; it is completed by Śiva-sambandha (connection to Śiva) through remembrance and devotion.
Practice Śiva-smarana through pañcākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), ideally with vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and/or rudrākṣa, so that daily actions become purified by continuous remembrance.
