Lord Shiva (Śambhu)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches that true tapas becomes liberating when grounded in serenity (prasannātmā) and directed toward Pati—Śiva as the indwelling Lord—rather than mere self-will; devotion and discipline unite to purify the soul (paśu) and loosen bondage (pāśa).
Śiva indicates a specific worship-worthy “form” that is His own presenced manifestation (mad-adhiṣṭhita); this aligns with Saguna upāsanā such as Liṅga-worship, where the devotee meditates on and serves a concrete form understood to be pervaded by Śiva’s supreme reality.
Practice disciplined tapas alongside steady Śiva-ārādhana—daily japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), dhyāna on Śiva’s form (or the Liṅga), and worship performed with a calm, purified mind.
