Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It highlights the contrast between worldly protocol and Śiva’s transcendence: even when honored and escorted, Śiva remains the unattached Lord (Pati), teaching the seeker to keep inner steadiness amid external forms.
The verse reflects formal, reverential reception—an outer expression of bhakti. In Śaiva practice, such honor is directed to Saguna Śiva (including the Liṅga) as a means to cultivate humility and devotion, while remembering His nirguṇa transcendence.
It implies “upacāra” (reverential reception) as a devotional attitude: welcome Śiva inwardly through japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and maintain inner purity—optionally with bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as aids to remembrance.
