kulocitena nāmnā tāṃ pārvatītyājuhāvahā | bandhupriyāṃ bandhujanaḥ sauśīlyaguṇasaṃyutām
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse highlights Pārvatī’s auspicious identity and innate virtues—gentleness, good conduct, and dhārmic character—showing that the Divine Śakti manifests in a form that nurtures devotion, harmony, and the moral refinement that supports the soul’s journey toward Shiva (Pati) in Shaiva Siddhanta.
By presenting Pārvatī as beloved and virtue-filled, the text prepares the devotional context for Saguna Shiva worship where Shiva is adored together with Śakti. In Linga worship too, Śakti is implicit as the power of manifestation; reverence for Pārvatī complements devotion to the Linga as the living presence of Shiva.
The takeaway is cultivation of sauśīlya (gentle virtues) alongside bhakti—practically expressed through daily Shiva–Parvati pūjā, japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and offering prayers for purity of conduct before undertaking vrata days like Mahāśivarātri.
