तारकपीडितदेवशरणागतिḥ — The Devas Seek Refuge from Tāraka
अहर्निशं बाधतेस्मान्यत्र तत्रास्थितान्स वै । पलायमानाः पश्यामो यत्र तत्रापि तारकम्
aharniśaṃ bādhatesmānyatra tatrāsthitānsa vai | palāyamānāḥ paśyāmo yatra tatrāpi tārakam
The Devas (gods), speaking collectively (as narrated by Suta Goswami in the Rudra Saṃhitā context)
Tattva Level: pasha
It depicts the helplessness of beings when overpowered by adharma: mere flight cannot end suffering. In Shaiva understanding, lasting relief comes from taking refuge in Pati (Lord Shiva), who alone can dissolve the binding forces that pursue the soul.
The Devas’ inability to escape points to the need for a tangible refuge and grace—Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga worship) is presented in the Purana as an accessible means to invoke Shiva’s protective power and restore dharma.
Seek Shiva’s protection through Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), wearing Rudrākṣa and applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) with devotion—traditional Shaiva aids for steadiness, fearlessness, and remembrance of Shiva amid distress.
