It sanctifies sacred time (tithi and month) by linking it to Śiva’s grace manifesting in the world—showing that divine help for dharma arises at auspicious junctures and can be honored through remembrance and worship.
By describing the appearance of Śiva’s son, the verse highlights Saguna Śiva’s active compassion—Śiva is worshiped not only as the transcendental Lord but also as the personal deity whose powers manifest through divine forms and family (Śiva-putra) within Purāṇic history.
Observing Ṣaṣṭhī in Śukla Pakṣa of Mārgaśīrṣa with Śiva-bhakti—japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” simple fast/vrata, and pūjā to Śiva and Skanda—is a fitting takeaway aligned with the verse’s emphasis on auspicious timing.
