शिवपुत्रजननवर्णनम् — Description of the Birth/Manifestation of Śiva’s Son

देवा ऊचुः । शंभो शिव महेशान त्वां नतास्स्म विशेषतः । रक्ष नश्शरणापन्नान्दह्यमानांश्च रेतसा

เหล่าเทพกล่าวว่า “โอ้ศัมภู โอ้ศิวะ โอ้มเหศาน เราทั้งหลายขอนอบน้อมแด่พระองค์ด้วยความอ้อนวอนเป็นพิเศษ โปรดคุ้มครองพวกเราผู้มอบตนเป็นที่พึ่ง ซึ่งกำลังถูกฤตัสเผาผลาญ”

It highlights śaraṇāgati—complete surrender to Śiva as Pati (the Lord). When even the Devas are overwhelmed by a consuming force, they turn to Śambhu as the sole refuge and protector, teaching that liberation and safety arise from dependence on Śiva’s grace rather than one’s own power.

The Devas address Śiva by personal names—Śambhu, Śiva, Maheśāna—showing Saguna devotion: praying to the compassionate Lord who responds to suffering. In Linga worship too, the devotee approaches Śiva as the accessible, grace-giving protector who receives surrender and removes burning afflictions.
