It highlights the sanctity of Śiva’s domain: even at the threshold, Śaṅkara’s gaṇas uphold divine order. From a Śaiva Siddhānta lens, this reflects Pati’s (Śiva’s) governance through his śakti and attendants, guiding beings away from ego and toward proper reverence.
The verse emphasizes Saguna Śiva’s living presence—his household, retinue, and guardianship. Approaching the Liṅga is not casual; one enters with humility, purity, and respect for Śiva’s established order represented by the gaṇas.
A practical takeaway is to adopt “threshold-discipline” before worship: cleanse, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) if customary, and mentally bow to Śiva and his gaṇas while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to enter pūjā with humility and steadiness.
