प्रणवं पूर्वमुच्चार्य्य सप्तधा ब्रह्मभि स्ततः । पञ्चभिश्चाभिषेकान्ते शंखोदेनाभिवेष्टयेत्

Significance: Frames liṅgārcana as Veda-supported Śaiva upacāra: praṇava, brahma-mantras and pañca-mantras sanctify abhiṣeka and conclude with śaṅkha-udaka pariveṣṭana for śuddhi and āvaraṇa (protective enclosure).

It teaches that Śiva-abhiṣeka is not merely external bathing, but a mantra-guided act: beginning with Oṃ (Praṇava), proceeding through sacred praises, and concluding with structured recitations—so the devotee’s intention becomes purified and directed to Pati (Śiva) for grace.
The verse gives a concrete Liṅga-worship sequence: mantra-first (Praṇava), then hymn/mantra praise, and a conch-water concluding rite. This is Saguna upāsanā—approaching Śiva through the Liṅga as a sanctified, accessible form while remembering His transcendent nature through Oṃ.
Recite Oṃ at the start, perform abhiṣeka with mantra recitation (sevenfold praises and then fivefold mantras), and conclude by ritually encircling/sprinkling with conch-water—an orderly, meditative abhiṣeka-vidhi centered on mantra and devotion.
