Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Type: rudram
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: Emanational cosmology: Rudra manifests from Maheśvara’s sahasrāṃśa (thousandfold ray), indicating a hierarchical unfolding of divine powers.
It presents Rudra as a deliberate manifestation of Maheshvara’s radiance, showing that Shiva (Pati) is the source and governor of cosmic principles (tattvas). Aghora indicates Shiva’s fundamentally auspicious nature, even when appearing as powerful Rudra.
Rudra’s emergence from Maheshvara’s light supports Saguna worship: devotees approach Shiva through specific forms (like Aghora) and through the Linga as the stable symbol of that same supreme reality manifesting as divine energy and governance of tattvas.
Meditate on Aghora Shiva as radiant tejas within the heart while repeating the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), visualizing inner impurities being burned by divine brilliance—an inward, yogic complement to external Shaiva worship.
