यस्ते मदो वरेण्यो य इन्द्र वृत्रहन्तमः । य आददिः स्वर्नृभिर्यः पृतनासु दुष्टरः ॥

Transliteration

yás te mádo váreṇyo yá índra vṛtrahán-tamaḥ | yá ādadíḥ svàr nṛ́bhir yáḥ pṛ́tanāsu dúṣṭaraḥ ||

Translation

ความปีติเมามายอันประเสริฐของพระองค์นั้นควรเลือกยิ่งนัก โอ้พระอินทระ—ผู้ยอดยิ่งในการพิฆาตวฤตระ (Vṛtra) ผู้ขวางกั้น; พระองค์ผู้ยึดเอาแสงสวรรค์ (svar) ด้วยพลังของมนุษย์ ผู้ยากจะข้ามพ้นในศึกสงครามทั้งหลาย: ขอให้พลังอันมีชัยนั้นตื่นทำงานในเรา.
