Rishi: Madhucchandas Vaiśvāmitra (traditional attribution for RV 1.1–1.11; by extension RV 1.2)
Devata: Mitra–Varuṇa (dual deities of ṛta: harmony and vast law)

मित्रं हुवे पूतदक्षं वरुणं च रिशादसम् । धियं घृताचीं साधन्ता ॥

mítraṃ húve pūtá-dakṣaṃ váruṇaṃ ca riśā́dasam | dhíyaṃ ghṛtā́cīṃ sā́dhantā ||

ข้าพเจ้าขออัญเชิญมิตร—ผู้มีดักษะ (dakṣa) อันบริสุทธิ์ ไร้มลทิน; และขออัญเชิญวรุณะ—ผู้ทำลายอันตรายทั้งปวง. ขอทวยเทพทั้งสองจงยัง “ธิ” (dhī) คือกระแสแห่งความคิดให้สำเร็จในเรา—ไหลไปพร้อมฆฤตะ (ghṛta) อันสว่างไสว ใสสะอาด ตรงแน่ว เพื่อการงานแห่งวิญญาณ.
