एवा हि ते शं सवना समुद्र आपो यत्त आसु मदन्ति देवीः । विश्वा ते अनु जोष्या भूद्गौः सूरीँश्चिद्यदि धिषा वेषि जनान् ॥
evā́ hí te śáṃ sávanā samudrá ā́po yát ta ā́sú mádanti devī́ḥ | víśvā te ánu jóṣyā bhūd gáuḥ sūrī́ṃś cid yádi dhiṣā́ véṣi jánān ||
แท้จริงเป็นดังนี้: การคั้นบีบของพระองค์ (โสมะ) เป็นความผาสุกในมหาสมุทร เมื่อสายน้ำอันเป็นเทพีทั้งหลายเริงรสในพระองค์ภายในนั้น. แล้วสรรพสิ่งทั้งปวงย่อมพร้อมใจยินยอมแก่พระองค์; และ ‘โค’ (รัศมีแห่งการรู้แจ้ง) ก็เช่นกัน—หากพระองค์ด้วยปัญญาอันดลใจ (dhīṣā) เสาะหาและชี้นำหมู่ชน แม้ผู้นำผู้สว่างก็ยังตามเสด็จ.
