Indrajith observing his own action, approaching Lakshmana, emitted a loud cry and spoke these words.
The verse sets up the ethical contrast between righteous speech (satya aligned with dharma) and boastful intimidation. The epic treats speech as morally weighty—words can uphold or violate dharma.
After wounding Lakṣmaṇa, Indrajit advances and begins to taunt him.
Indrajit’s pride is foregrounded (a vice), preparing the reader to evaluate action and speech through the lens of dharma.
