Indrajit’s Illusory Sita Episode and Hanuman’s Rebuke
च्युतागृहाच्चराज्याच्चरामहस्ताच्चमैथिली ।।।।किंतवैषापराद्धाहियदेनांहन्तुमिच्छसि ।
cyutā gṛhāc ca rājyāc ca rāmahastāc ca maithilī | kiṃ tavaiṣā parāddhā hi yad enāṃ hantum icchasi ||
ไมถิลีพลัดพรากจากบ้านเมืองและห่างไกลจากพระราม นางทำผิดอะไรต่อเจ้าหรือ เจ้าจึงปรารถนาที่จะสังหารนาง?
"This Mythili is sent away from home, from the kingdom, and also distanced from Rama's protection. You are unkind and hitting in this way. What harm has she done?"
Dharma demands justice: punishment must follow actual wrongdoing; harming the innocent—especially one already deprived—is grave adharma.
Hanumān argues that Sītā is already displaced and unprotected, and challenges Indrajit to justify any intent to kill her.
