Angada’s Duel
संलब्दसंज्ञोगदयावालिपुत्रमवस्थितम् ।।6.54.26।।जघानपरमक्रुद्धोवक्षोदेशेनिशाचरः ।
saṁlabdasaṁjño gadayā vāliputram avasthitam |
jaghāna paramakruddho vakṣodeśe niśācaraḥ |
ครั้นได้สติคืนมาแล้ว อสูรราตรีผู้เดือดดาลยิ่งนัก ก็ฟาดคทาลงที่อกของโอรสวาลีซึ่งยืนมั่นคงอยู่
The night ranger regained his senses, extremely angry, stood firmly and attacked Angada, son of Vali on his chest with his mace.
Dharma is seen in steadfastness under trial: Angada remains firm even when attacked. The verse contrasts disciplined courage with rage-driven violence.
Vajradaṁṣṭra recovers and immediately retaliates, striking Angada in the chest with his mace.
Angada’s dhairya (steadiness) and kṣānti under impact—standing firm despite a powerful blow.
