Envoy-Ethics and the Episode of Śuka
नमेऽसिमित्रंनतथानुकम्प्योनचोपकर्तापिनमेप्रियोऽसि ।अरिश्चरामस्यसहानुबन्धस्ततोऽसिवालीववधार्हवध्यः ।।।।
na me 'si mitraṃ na tathānukampyo na copakartāpi na me priyo 'si |
ariś ca rāmasya sahānubandhas tato 'si vālīva vadhārhavadhyaḥ ||
เจ้ามิใช่มิตรของเรา มิควรแก่ความเมตตา มิใช่ผู้มีคุณ และมิเป็นที่รักของเรา เจ้าเป็นศัตรูที่ผูกพันกับศัตรูของพระรามะ ฉะนั้นเจ้าจึงควรถูกประหารดุจวาลี
"O Rakshasa, you are the one who deserves death! (Convey to Ravana this as my word). You are an enemy to my friend, like wise you are not worthy of sympathy, not my well wisher and also not dear to me. You are Rama's enemy, so like your relative Vali you are to be killed."
Dharma of loyalty: Sugrīva asserts steadfast alignment with Rāma and frames enmity in terms of righteous alliance and accountability for hostile association.
Sugrīva delivers a stern message to be carried to Rāvaṇa’s side, declaring Śuka’s factional enmity with Rāma.
Fidelity and firmness—Sugrīva stands unwaveringly with his benefactor and ally, Rāma.
