Envoy-Ethics and the Episode of Śuka
सएवमुक्तःप्लवगाधिपस्तदाप्लवङ्गमानामृषभोमहाबलः ।उवाचवाक्यंरजनीचरस्यचारंशुकंतूर्णमदीनसत्त्वः ।।।।
sa evam uktaḥ plavagādhipas tadā plavaṅgamānām ṛṣabho mahābalaḥ |
uvāca vākyaṃ rajanīcarasya cāraṃ śukaṃ tūrṇam adīnasattvaḥ ||
ครั้นถูกกล่าวเช่นนั้น สุครีวะ—จอมวานรผู้ทรงเดช ผู้เป็นยอดแห่งหมู่ผู้กระโจน และมีจิตไม่ครั่นคร้าม—ก็รีบกล่าวถ้อยคำแก่ศุกะ ผู้เป็นสายสืบของรากษส
Suka having spoken in that way, Sugriva the leader of the monkeys who was not depressed in his spirit spoke these pleasant words to the Rakshasa spy.
Dharma in leadership includes steadiness (adīnatā) and clarity in response—answering an enemy’s envoy without losing composure.
Sugrīva prepares to deliver a formal message to be carried back to Rāvaṇa by Śuka.
Courage and emotional steadiness—Sugrīva remains undepressed and decisive.
