Public Opinion and Royal Duty
युद्धेविक्रमतश्चैवहितंमन्त्रयतस्तथा ।सुग्रीवस्यससैन्यस्यसफलोऽद्यपरिश्रमः ।।6.118.8।।
yuddhe vikramataś caiva hitaṁ mantrayatas tathā |
sugrīvasya sa-sainyasya saphalo ’dya pariśramaḥ ||6.118.8||
ในสงคราม ด้วยความองอาจ และด้วยคำปรึกษาอันเป็นประโยชน์ สุครีวะพร้อมกองทัพของตน วันนี้ได้เห็นความเพียรพยายามบรรลุผลสำเร็จแล้ว
"What is the purpose of might however great he might be, if he is petty minded and does not wipe off the insult?"
Dharma in governance and war requires both śaurya (valor) and mantra (wise counsel); success is ethical when achieved through disciplined cooperation and right guidance.
Rāma acknowledges the allied contribution of Sugrīva and the vānara forces in achieving victory.
Collective duty and prudent leadership: bravery paired with good advice.
