O great sage! I will win all the worlds myself. I (only) want to live in this forest. Allow me.
Rāma prioritizes duty and appointed station over allure of exalted rewards—dharma as steadfast adherence to one’s vowed path.
Rāma responds to the spiritual grandeur surrounding the sage by affirming his own mission and choosing the forest residence rather than extraordinary privileges.
Detachment and resolve: Rāma’s refusal to be diverted from his dharmic commitment.
