खररामयुद्धम् — The Battle of Khara and Rama
Aranya Kanda, Sarga 28
स सर्वाश्च दिशो बाणैः प्रदिशश्च महारथः।पूरयामास तं दृष्ट्वा रामोऽपि सुमहद्धनुः।।।।
sa sarvāś ca diśo bāṇaiḥ pradiśaś ca mahārathaḥ |
pūrayāmāsa taṃ dṛṣṭvā rāmo 'pi sumahad-dhanuḥ ||
ครั้นพระรามทอดพระเนตรเห็นเช่นนั้น พระองค์ผู้ทรงพละแขนและเป็นมหารถี ก็ทรงแผลงศรจากคันศรอันยิ่งใหญ่ ให้เต็มทั่วทุกทิศและทิศระหว่าง
Khara, sat on the chariot, and with a twang of his bow-string released arrows in all directions, exhibiting his skill in the use of weapons.
Rama’s response models protective duty: when threatened by violent wrongdoing, a righteous warrior may act decisively to prevent harm.
Rama answers Khara’s arrow-storm with an equal or greater shower, controlling the battlefield space.
