Concept: In Dvāpara, all varṇas proliferate with vigor, but competitive violence rises—energy without inner restraint turns destructive.

Application: Convert competitive impulses into sādhana: observe restraint in speech, practice forgiveness, and adopt periodic fasting/discipline (e.g., Ekādaśī) to cool aggression and restore sattva.

Primary Rasa: raudra

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Type: city

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A bustling Dvāpara city and training grounds overflow with energetic people of every order—merchants, priests, warriors, artisans—yet the scene is fractured by tense glances and near-violent confrontations. The same vigor that builds towers and armies also sharpens into rivalry, with stormy clouds hinting at moral turbulence.","primary_figures":["people of all varṇas (symbolic groups)","warriors in training","arguing rivals"],"setting":"Urban crossroads with a palace silhouette, market stalls, and a martial arena; subtle signs of strain—broken garlands, toppled pots.","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["dusty ochre","storm-cloud gray","rust red","dark teal","ashen white"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: a crowded Dvāpara city scene with multiple social groups in ornate attire; gold leaf used sparingly to contrast fading dharma, rich reds and greens muted by gray shadows; expressive faces showing rivalry, decorative borders with slightly disordered lotus motifs to symbolize decline.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: detailed townscape with delicate architecture and many figures; subtle narrative vignettes of quarrels and competitive training; cool grays and teals overlay warm earth tones, refined faces showing tension, distant clouds gathering over hills.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines and rhythmic crowd composition; contrasting panels of vigorous activity and emerging conflict, warm reds/yellows with darkened shading, stylized angry expressions, temple-wall epic moral lesson aesthetic.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: a dense patterned composition of many figures framed by floral borders; lotus motifs interspersed with thorn-like patterns to suggest rivalry; deep blues and rust reds with gold highlights, symmetrical layout disrupted by diagonal ‘conflict’ lines."}

FAQs

It portrays Dvāpara as an age where all varṇas are present, marked by energy and heroism, but also by heightened rivalry and mutual violence.

No. The verse notes the presence of all social orders, but emphasizes a social mood of conflict—people are vigorous yet inclined toward harming one another.

Even admirable qualities like zeal and strength become destructive when driven by hostility; the implied lesson is to discipline power with restraint and dharma.
