Padmayoni (“born of the lotus”) is a common epithet of Brahmā, identifying him as the source of the teaching being recalled.
It frames the teaching as heard earlier in a formal setting—“in the presence of sages”—emphasizing oral narration, remembered testimony, and lineage-based transmission.
By urging the king to listen and grounding the account in respected authority (Brahmā and the sages), it establishes attentiveness, humility, and trust in disciplined learning.
