FAQs

Rasātala is one of the netherworld realms (pātālas) in Purāṇic cosmology; the verse lists beings from such regions alongside earthbound creatures to illustrate wide-ranging transmigration.

It suggests that embodied existence moves through many forms—netherworld dwellers, insects, plants, birds—and that some eventually attain human birth and even royal prosperity, implying karmic progression across births.

The implied lesson is that status and power are not permanent; they are outcomes within saṃsāra. This encourages humility and responsible conduct, since one’s condition can change across lives according to karma.
