Brahmā (addressing Rāma)

Concept: Even the supreme, when enacting līlā as Rāma, models maryādā: receiving Brahmā’s command with humility and bowing to the cosmic elder.

Application: Complete duties and transitions cleanly: return ‘home’ (to one’s rightful responsibilities), accept guidance from wise elders, and close chapters with gratitude and reverence.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: vira

Type: city

FAQs

It presents Ayodhyā as Rāma’s “own city” (svapurī), highlighting it as a central sacred and royal locus, from which divine or heavenly journeys (to suraloka) may be envisioned.

Brahmā issues a directive and formally dismisses Rāma; Rāma responds with reverence by bowing (praṇipatya) to Pitāmaha, modeling humility and proper etiquette toward the cosmic creator.

It emphasizes respectful obedience to rightful instruction and the virtue of honoring elders/teachers—Rāma’s prostration illustrates disciplined humility even when receiving permission to depart.
